Biographical literature is one of the important fields of contemporary literary studies,with historical and literary characteristics.The genre of biographical literature is unique and involves a variety of disciplines,which requires the translator to accurately grasp the purpose of the biography.The translator selects I’m Feeling Lucky: The Confession of Google Employee Number 59 written by the former marketing manager Douglas Edwards and tries to convey the early history of Google.Through specific cases,the translator will analyse the guiding rule of skopos theory,conclude the main gains of biographical translation practise and present the terse,objective and vivid language style of the source text.Based on Skopos theory,the author analyzes the translation of the first three chapters and aims to explore proper strategies and methods in the translation.The author selects important examples in the translation practice and uses the translation strategies such as conversion,supplement,omission and restructuring to solve the problems in the original text at the lexical,syntactic and textual level.In order to clarify the translation task of this biography,the translator consults many related materials,and introduce the background information of the biographer and the source text.The author carries out translation analysis on different cases,which will concretely present the guiding significance of the principles of skopos,fidelity and coherence advocated by the Skopos theory.In this translation practice,the translator has applied the theory and techniques of the Skopos theory to translation practice and deeply understood that translation is a purposeful cultural communication method and know how to adequately apply its three principles to the translation of the biographical literature.All these above are the valuable experience for the future translation practice.
