Taking Ne Zha as a typical representative of Chinese traditional cultural symbols,this paper redraws Ne Zha’s story in Chinese animation from the perspective of historical narrative discourse,excavates the changes of Chinese social and cultural ideology behind the image evolution and story adaptation in the process of inheritance,and regards the generation of subject in national discourse as an eternal "process",so as to explore the creation of Chinese traditional cultural symbols’ history and image memory.In the first three chapters,three animations,Ne Zha Naohai(1979),Ne Zha Legend(2003)and The Birth of Ne zha(2019),are used as case studies to explore the shaping of Ne Zha’s image from the perspectives of body presentation,behavior mode and character analysis;to analyze the adaptation of Ne Zha’s story from the aspects of story theme,conflict and climax setting;to present the social and cultural context of the creation with the connotation of Ne Zha symbols in different times,and consequently discusses how Ne Zha’s image is influenced by the times and culture and how the times and culture together are represented by Ne Zha’s image.In the fourth chapter,through combing the historical trend of Ne Zha’s animation adaptation,how to carry out modern reconstruction and creative transformation of traditional cultural resources is explored,so as to provide enlightenment for the inheritance and innovation of Chinese traditional cultural symbols in the new era and the reconstruction of classics.
