George Gershwin(1898-1937)is one of the most representative composers of American music,whose personality of creation lies in the integration of the jazz elements most represented by American folk music style into the traditional European music creation theory,and the combination of the two creative styles has become his unique music creation language.Gershwin created a huge number of works in his short life,and the styles involved were extremely diverse.Rhapsody in Blue,he created in 1925,was one of the most classic works of his career.Through this work,he brought jazz,which represents the national characteristics of the United States,into the world music stage,which is well known to the world,and really realized the blend of American national music and European traditional music.This article will be divided into four chapters to analyze and discuss on George Gershwin,his Rhapsody in Blue's various creative techniques and American National Spirit in the Early 20th Century which was expressed in works.The full text is divided into three chapters:The first chapter is an overview of George Gershwin's personal and creative career and the background of Rhapsody in Blue.The second chapter mainly introduces what jazz elements are and expounds the origin and development of jazz and the two important factors of its formation——Blues and ragtime.The third chapter is the core chapter of the full paper,which is the study of various composing ideas and techniques involved in Rhapsody in Blue.It will analyze the composition techniques from the aspects of jazz-style theme material,special work structure layout,improvisation of colorful style writing,multi-element and the use of hand method.Strive to show Rhapsody in Blue in the most distinctive and unique music content.
