Primary school students who begin to learn English often complain that English words are difficult to remember and easy to forget,even if they remember,they do not know how to use them correctly.What this research focuses on and tries to solve is the difficulty of learning and memorizing words in English learning for the sixth-grade students.Through empirical research,the researcher focuses on investigating the use of vocabulary learning strategies of a sixth-grade student,exploring the characteristics,existing problems,and the main causes of these problems.I trained the student's English vocabulary learning strategies as a home tutor.The purpose of this study is to make the student plan,monitor,and evaluate English vocabulary learning,so that student can learn vocabulary easily,happily,and effectively.By reviewing the previous studies on vocabulary learning strategies at home and abroad,this paper aims to explore the use of vocabulary learning strategies in primary school.And it focuses on the following three issues:(1)the current situation of student's vocabulary learning strategies without the guidance of tutor;(2)the impact of tutor on student's learning strategies;(3)whether student's learning interests and attitudes have changed.In this paper,through the research methods of questionnaire,combined with structural interview,classroom observation table,vocabulary test and teaching journal,scientifically verify the effect of vocabulary learning.The results are as follows: First,I learned that the main problems of this student in the previous vocabulary learning are:(i)not paying attention to pronunciation,ignoring the rules of word spelling;(ii)rote learning,ignoring review;(iii)not learning vocabulary learning strategies.In order to make the student master the correct learning strategies and improve the learning efficiency,the author has carried on the training of vocabulary learning strategies in the classroom teaching.Second,after five months of vocabulary learning strategy training,student's vocabulary,vocabulary knowledge application and vocabulary learning strategies have been greatly improved,especially metacognitive strategies and cognitive strategies are the most obvious,which basically achieve the expected goal.Third,after this period of vocabulary teaching,student's interest in vocabulary learning has increased a lot,his learning attitude has also been correct,and he will make his own learning goals and learning plans.However,the author also clearly sees that there are many deficiencies in student's mastery of resource management strategies.Because of various learning pressures at the beginning of the junior high school,due to the time problem,some strategies are lack of corresponding training,so improving the use of vocabulary learning strategies of primary school students needs further study in the future teaching research.
