Western Europe is one of the birthplaces of modern nation-states.It not only has a profound impact on the current international political structure, but also is very important for studying human history and politics.Among the Western European countries,UK,France and Germany have well developed economies and profound influences. Therefore, they are important components in Western European.Since the beginning of the 21 st century,Western European countries represented by UK,France and Germany have generally encountered many social issues with significant impact.Among these social issues, the issue of Muslim immigration is one that cannot be ignored. In the 1980 s,the issue of Muslim immigration in Western European countries became one of the social focuses at that time.In 2015,a large number of Muslim refugees from the Middle East flowed into Western European countries and multiple outbreaks of terrorist attacks occurred, which made the issue of Muslim immigration at the cusp of public opinion. This thesis is based on literature review, historical analysis, and comparative research.By collecting and collating domestic and foreign political, economic, cultural, and social data, this thesis focuses on the historical investigation and research on the issue of Muslim immigration in UK,France and Germany from 1980 s to 2015.By exploring the causes, development process, social problems and impacts of the Muslim immigration issues in UK,France and Germany, the effects of the Western European countries' policies on immigration groups are analyzed,so as to promote the in-depth research of the academic community and provide experience and reference for the improvement of China's immigration policy and national governance. The issue of Muslim immigration in UK,France and Germany originated from the labor demands for social reconstruction and economic development after World War II.Due to the tragic losses in the war,UK,France and Germany attracted a large number of Muslim immigrant laborers to complete social reconstruction and economic recovery through policies such as amendments to laws, recruitment of guest workers, and implementation of family reunification.Although these Muslim immigrants provided the necessary labor force for the post-war social and economic reconstruction of Western European countries, they also laid the groundwork for the issues of Muslim immigration that have plagued the future.Taking the “9.11” terrorist attack as the boundary, this thesis divides the development process of the Muslim immigration issues in UK,France and Germany before 2015 into two periods for diachronic investigation, from the 1980 s to 2000 and from 2001 to 2015.The 1980s-2000 were the formative period of the Muslim immigration issue. After entering the 1980 s,the economic development of UK,France and Germany was stalled, and social contradictions were further revealed. With the outbreak of social events such as the “headscarf issue” and “Satan Psalms”,the integration issue of Muslim immigrant groups in UK,France and Germany in the political, social, economic and cultural fields has become a major social contradiction. After entering the 21 st century, the “War on Terror” in Europe and America that erupted with the “9.11” terrorist attack has exacerbated the conflict between Muslim immigrant groups and mainstream social groups in UK,France and Germany. In 2008,the expansion of the international financial crisis in Europe further caused economic damage to UK,France and Germany, exacerbated social conflicts and affected policy implementation. The crisis of Muslim refugees who flooded into Western European countries such as UK,France and Germany due to the chaos in the Middle East since 2010/2011 and the series of violent terrorist attacks triggered by it peaked in 2015,making the issue of Muslim immigration one of the most prominent and important social issues in Western Europe.During the formation and development of Muslim immigration in UK,France and Germany, the impacts of the Muslim immigration issues can be examined from three aspects: the immigrant group, immigrant countries, regional and international politics. For immigrant groups, the issue of Muslim immigration has exacerbated the contradictions between Muslim immigrant groups and mainstream social groups, making Muslim immigrant groups further excluded by mainstream social groups and difficult to integrate into society. For immigrant countries, the issue of Muslim immigration is manifested in cultural conflicts and terrorist attacks in UK,France,Germany and other countries, which have impacted their social stability and cultural values. In the field of regional and international politics, the issue of Muslim immigration has obviously affected the implementation and adjustment of the Middle East foreign policy of Western European countries such as UK,France and Germany.According to the above-mentioned investigation and analysis,it can be recognized that the most important issue of Muslim immigration in modern Western European countries is the contradictory relationship between the Muslim immigrant groups and the mainstream social groups in Western Europe in the corresponding socioeconomic and political context. Therefore, there is still a long way to go to solve the immigration issues in Western Europe.
