An Eye Movement Study Of Attention Bias Of Individuals With Social Anxiety

Based on the review of relevant research on the characteristics of attentional bias of individuals with social anxiety,this study aims at the missing parts of the current research in this field.Combined with the research tool of eye movement,the characteristics of attention bias and the components of attention bias of college students with different anxiety levels were studied in different time periods and different time thresholds.This study mainly consists of two experiments.Firstly,168 students in a university were surveyed by the social interaction anxiety scale(SIAS)and social fear scale(SPS).Then,according to the actual scores measured by the scale,the top 27%of students and the bottom 27% of students were selected as the subjects of the final experiment.The experiment one mainly adopts hidden task of examining subliminal point detection,the main use faces and objects as experiment material,adopt 3(pictures for image classification: positive face-household object,negative face-household object,a pairs of household object)x 2(high level of social anxiety:anxiety subjects,low anxiety subjects)x 2(consistency:Stimuli are consistent with the target location,stimuli do not agree with the target position)of experimental design,rendering time 14 with ms and 186 ms after masking,mainly inspects the social anxiety for emotional faces information whether there is phenomenon of subliminal processing,the results show that under the threshold of consciousness,the high social anxiety group of subjects of negative emotions face images to stimulate attention toes.First experiment chooses 500 ms and 1500 ms respectively two timing indicators,using 2(high level of social anxiety: anxiety subjects,low anxiety subjects)x 3(pictures for image classification: positive face-household object,negative face-household object,a pairs of household object),with the method of point detection paradigm and eye movement to delve into its time process,the results show that under the experimental condition of 500 ms,high social anxiety was the temperature shows attention to negative emotional faces stimulus withdrawal;Under the experimental conditions of 1500 ms,there was no significant difference in the distribution between the two groups under different experimental conditions.This study draws the following conclusions:(1)under the threshold of consciousness,the subjects in the high social anxiety group were alert to the stimulus of negative emotional faces;(2)under the condition of consciousness threshold of 500 ms,the subjects with high social anxiety showed attentional avoidance of negative emotional face stimuli,which was manifested in initial attentional avoidance bias,deceleration detection and overall attentional avoidance of negative emotional face stimuli.The low social anxiety subjects showed an initial attention-avoidance bias toward positive emotional facial stimuli.(3)under the condition of consciousness threshold of 1500 ms,there was no significant difference in the attention of the group with high social anxiety and the group with low social anxiety under all picture classification conditions,and the subjects in the group with high social anxiety had no attention bias towards different picture stimuli.(4)during the whole period from the consciousness threshold to the consciousness threshold,subjects in the high social anxiety group showed a dynamic change process of alertness and avoidance in the negative emotional face images.
