Study On The Social Service Project Of Empty Nesters' Spiritual Comfort

With the rapid development of economy and society,the problem of aging has become increasingly prominent.Especially the phenomenon of "empty nesters" has attracted more and more attention.With the growth of age,the physical quality is not as good as the former,the dependence on others is greatly enhanced,and the children are not around for a long time,daily life lacks care,spiritual comfort is also very short,these are very easy to induce mental illness.Under the premise of material demand,how to improve the life quality of empty nest elderly and meet the needs of their spiritual life is a problem that must be paid attention to and solved.For the special group of empty nesters,this article is based on the implementation of the social service project of the empty nest elderly people in the X streets in Suzhou where the author participated.Based on past research,a questionnaire survey and unstructured interviews were conducted among 30 empty-nesters in the three communities of ABC in X Street in Suzhou City.It was found that the material lives of the community's empty-nesters were basically met,but the daily life was boring and monotonous,lack of support,spiritual comfort and strong demand for these issues have always existed.With regard to these problems and needs of empty nesters,we use professional team work methods in the way of project operations to use Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory,social support theory,and interpersonal needs.The theory guides the intervention of the empty nester's spiritual life.Through the intervention of the project,it enriches the daily life of the empty nesters,improves the relationship with their children,and strengthens the peer support and community support of the empty nestersl.Finally,the project's operation process and effects were evaluated.It was found that the group activities enriched the spiritual life of empty nesters and was conducive to meeting the needs of empty nesters for spiritual comfort.At the same time,support from peer groups also played an important role in spiritual comfort for empty nesters.In addition,the use of project models to intervene in the problems associated with empty nesters can manage service resources in an orderly manner and efficiently provide better services to empty nesters.However,there are also some deficiencies that need our attention.When using social work methods to intervene in and solve problems related to empty nesters,we should comprehensively use the major methods of social work and work together to integrate resources to carry out work for empty nesters.To create a better environment,at the same time,social workers should strengthen their professional qualities,increase the influence and recognition of social work,enhance the smoothness of project development and related research,and reduce “human” obstacles.
