China has the most disabled population in the world.These disadvantaged people often suffer discrimination and prejudice,as a result,becoming a vulnerable group in society.Personally,it is unavoidable to undergo the dysfunction of body organs in one's whole life;domestically,disability is a heavy burden;socially,it is an inevitable price to pay in the process of development.As the concept of“people–oriented” becomes household,China attaches more importance to educate the disabled.Higher education is not only crucial to give full play to the potential of the disadvantaged individuals,but also an effective way to cultivate talents for society.In China,the overall development of higher education for the disabled has a long way to go.In fact,educational equity is a significant factor contributing to the social equity.Therefore,to enable the disabled to gain access to higher education and build a better safety net for their rights to higher education,the author maintains that the humanitarian concern,social support and legal protection are urgently required pooling.The thesis,consisting of preface and other four chapters,discusses the equity of higher education for the disabled in China.Chapter One is devoted to the introduction of basic theories,concepts of higher education for the disabled.The second chapter illustrates China's status quo and existing challenges of higher education for the disabled from three perspectives: the equality of educational opportunity,process and result.The third chapter is on what China can learn from the overview of the ?UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities? and the relevant educational provisions.Chapter Four proposes three methods to safeguard the equal rights of the disabled's higher education in China: strengthening humanitarian care,improving the construction of the barrier-free environment and perfecting the legal protection system.
