With the rapid development of digital technology and the popularity of mobile terminals, new media has entered the daily life of the family in an unstoppable manner and has become an important channel for family intergenerational communication. The influence of new media on family relationship has become an important field of communication research. At the same time, with the adjustment of rural education layout and the gap between urban and rural educational resources, the rural society has gradually developed a wave of entering city to accompany children syudying. The tension in parent-child relationship caused by accompanying has attracted the attention of the academic circles. At present, the academic research on the parent-child relationship of the accompanying family mostly focuses on the fields of sociology, education and psychology. It mainly focuses on the analysis of the causes and the countermeasure of the tension in parent-child relationship, while pays little attention to the new media which is changing the ways of family intergenerational communication and shaping family intergenerational relationship.Based on the above background, the author turns the research perspective to the influence of new media on intergenerational intergenerational communication, and tries to further broaden the dimensions of new media and family relations research based on previous studies.Based on in-depth interviews and participatory observations of 15 accompanying families, this study examines the impact of new media on intergenerational communication of accompanying family. The interview involved the use of new media between family members, the influence of new media on parent-child relationship in accompanying families, and the privacy management in parent-child interaction in cyberspace. The study found that:Firstly, the new media has influenced the role of intergenerational communication of accompanying family. The geographical mobility from rural to urban areas has affected the lifestyle and ideas of accompanying parents by new media. In order to adapt to urban life, accompanying parents began to accept the full range of "cultural feedback" of their children, and teaching and taught roles between parents and children has changed temporarily;the emergence of new media has weakened the authority of parents. It has improved the children's right in family affairs, but it has not fundamentally shaken the authority of the parents. The children's rightis limited to life trivia and entertainment;although the new media has not fundamentally changed the status between accompanying parents and children, but the relationship between parents and children tends to be equal.Secondly, the new media has reshaped the time and space of accompanying family intergenerational communication. The intergenerational communication of accompanying family in the new media environment have enabled the "absence" and"presence" to switch at any time.Parents and children can still achieve emotional connection when they are physical absent. At the same time, new media has also led to the helplessness of face-to-face communication between parents and children;the intergenerational communication of accompanying family in the new media environment presents a picture of coexistence and alienation.Thirdly, the new media has reconstructed the boundary of intergenerational communication of accompanying family. The new media provides a new communication channel for the intergenerational communication of the accompanying family. At the same time,it also allows the accompanying parents to have more ways to explore their children's privacy.Parents' privacy invasion of children extends from the physical space to the virtual cyberspace. In the face of parents' privacy invasion, children have to use certain means to achieve their privacy management. In the parent's pursuit of the child's privacy and the management of the child's own privacy, the boundary of the intergenerational communication of the accompanying family was established.Based on the analysis of the influence of new media on the intergenerational communication of the accompanying family, this study further reflects on the dilemma of the intergenerational communication of the accompanying family in new media:First,in the new media environment, the accompanying parents' texcessive attention and control of their children has become more and more prominent, which only only fails to promote the communication between parents and children, but also triggers conflicts between parents and children.Secondly,in the context of fragmentation of new media, the topic of accompanying family is relatively simple. Moreover, the efficiency of communication is relatively low. Finally, the frequent communication between the parents and their chilren in the new media is a kind of"compensation behavior" driven by emotions. It is just a "routine business".
