Repeated reading is one of the typical behavioral characteristics for children aged 3-6.Some Studies have found that repeated reading can promote children's acquisition of vocabulary and improve reading fluency.some researchers found that repeated reading increases children's attention to words through eye movement experiments. Most of the current researches mainly focuses on the older children and the impact of repeated reading on children's vocabulary learning and text gaze.Reading comprehension is the core goal of Early Reading for 3-6 years old.Can repeated reading significantly improve the reading comprehension of young children? In addition, would repeated reading affect the eye movements of young children? This is the problems to be explored in this study. In this study,61 children aged 4-5 years old were divided into two group, the group with high reading ability(30 children),the another group with low reading ability(31 children).Children read the picturebook once a day for a total of five days. The children's reading comprehension test was implemented in the first reading and the fifth reading respectively. The eye movement instrument records children's eye movement trajectory in the first reading, the third reading, and the fifth reading. The statistical analysis method contains T-test,Repeated measurement analysis of variance,Correlation analysis and Stepwise regression analysis. The study found that repeated reading can significantly promote the story comprehension of children in both tow groups.Secondly,in the obvious content of the story, repeated reading enhances the child's comprehension about the story's role, background, triggering events, story issues, and story endings.Children with low reading ability have made greater progress in understanding the role of the story after repeated reading;children in the high reading ability have made greater progress in understanding the ending of the story after repeated reading. In addition,in theimplicit content of the story, repeated reading can significantly improve the children's comprehension about the role perception, causal relationship, plot prediction. However, repeated reading can not significantly improve children's comprehension about the causal relationship and the theme of the story. The study also found that children always watch more pictures, less words, and pay more attention to the leading characters but pay less attention to the background pictures in every reading. In the first time of reading, they paid more attention to the key areas and less attention to the detail areas, and later they turned to pay more attention to the detail areas and less attention to the key areas.Secondly,,children's watching time in the drawing area and the writing area has increased significantly after repeated reading. The fixation time in detail and key areas also increased significantly. The focus on the leading role area was less and less, and the focus on the background area was more and more. Moreover,in the whole repeated reading, the children with high reading level paid more attention to the detail area. Finally, children's eye movement in the third reading is basically consistent with the eye movement in the fifth reading.By analyzing the correlation between children's eye movement trajectory of each reading and thier story conprehension score in the fifth reading,we found that there are not nignificant correlation between the ustory conprehension score and the eye movement trajectory in the fifth reading.Secondly, the story conprehension score was significantly positively correlated with the number of gaze in the detail area in the third reading, and was significantly negatively correlated with the gaze time of the key area. Finally,The story conprehension score in the fifth reading is significantly positively correlated with the gaze time and the number of gaze in the detail area in the first reading, and is significantly positively correlated with the gaze time of the key area.In addition,we found that the gaze time of the key area and the number of gaze in the detail area in the third reading can effectively predict the story conprehension score of the fifth reading of the child.the appropriate number of times for children to repeat the same picture story book is three.According to the research results,we suggests that teachers and parents shouldpay attention to the educational value about repeated reading.Secondly,it is important to provide reading materials suitable for children's repeated reading, and then, teachers and parents can use repeated reading to lay the foundation for the development of children's text awareness.
