The Constrution Of Fans's Group Identity Under The Background Of Modernity

Modernization has brought us many benefits,such as the development of cultural industry,network media technology,making information dissemination more convenient and the development of sub-culture which is popular with young people.On the other hand,modernization generally makes people fall into such spiritual risks as pressure increasing,anxiety,loss of direction,self-confusion and doubt.This issue is a source of comfort for an increasing number of young people through subcultures that are at arm's length from the real world.Fan Culture,one of the sub-cultures,has developed in China in the context of the popularity of various talent show programs in 2005 and the popularity of the Internet.In this paper,the use of questionnaires,interviews and participation observation and other survey methods to study the Fan community.Based on Social identity theory analysis,especially the theories explained in Giddens' s book modernity and self identity,this paper analyzes how the Fan community deals with the risks of modernity.It is found that all kinds of network platforms are the "space" of fans group,which has the characteristics of diversity,technology of social communication and standardization of internal organization.And the public's impression of the fan base is generally irrational and negative.This article disapproves of our limiting ourselves to this stereotype.Through the analysis,this paper finds that the fans' behavior is caused by the realization of the ideal self.In general,people's "ideal self" is a perfect image of both beauty and talent.People become fans in order to get close to the "ideal self".Through the fans' internal behavior,the group identity is produced,which strengthens the group identity.The evaluation of fans from all walks of life will also strengthen the group identity,strengthen the awareness of proving themselves.Therefore,Fan behavior has become a modern youth to deal with self-confusion,self-denial and other modern risks.The study of fans' group behavior in the context of modernity can help readers better understand its implicit social meaning,that is,the identity crisis in modernity,and the readers can realize the aspirations of group identity and identity and the profound social significance of the fans under the background of modernity.
