| Psychological maltreatment refers to the behavior caused by inappropriate emotions or behaviors of parents or other caregivers in childhood(6-12 years old),which can negatively affect children’s psychological and emotional behavior.Primary school students,who are at a central developmental stage,psychological maltreatment may lead to serious consequences for later in their life.Previous studies have shown that psychological maltreatment was significant with aggressive behavior.However,these studies focus on adolescent or undergraduate.The mechanism is unclear between psychological maltreatment and aggressive behavior of primary school students.A total of 410 participants were recruited from 3-6 grades of primary schools in Jiangsu Province.Child psychological maltreatment scale,Psychology quality Scale of Primary Students and Buss-Perry aggression questionnaire were administered to all participants,which were used to examine the mediating effect of mental quality between psychological maltreatment and aggressive behavior of children.The results revealed that:(1)Psychological maltreatment of parents in primary school students is a widespread problem.There were significant differences of psychological maltreatment in demographic variables,such as gender,age,single parent or not,origins,siblings number,and education level of parents.(2)The psychology quality of primary school students is on the lower levels of intermediate.There were significant differences of psychology quality in demographic variables,such as grade,origins,siblings number,and education level of parents.And gender,age,single parent or not,origins,maternal education level were no significant differences.(3)Aggressive behavior is a widespread problem among primary school students.There were significant differences of aggressive behavior in demographic variables,such as gender,grade,single parent or not,origins and siblings number.The education level of parents was no significant differences in aggressive behavior.(4)The psychological maltreatment of parents was significant negative correlation with psychology quality of primary school students,and significant positive correlation with aggressive behavior.Furthermore,psychology quality is negative correlation with aggressive behavior.(5)The threaten and intervene dimension of psychological maltreatment can positive predict the aggressive behavior of primary school students.The personality and cognition dimension of psychology quality can negative predict the aggressive behavior of primary school students.(6)The relationship between psychological maltreatment and aggressive behavior was mediated by the psychology quality of primary school students.Conclusion:3-6 grades of primary school student psychological maltreatment can directly aggressive behavior,and can also influence aggressive behavior through mediating role of psychology quality. |
