Task-based Language Teaching(TBLT)is a language teaching method which emphasizes "learning by doing".And it appeared in the 1980 s.It is the development of communicative teaching method.In order to adapt to the development of the new curriculum reform,Chinese researchers advocate use TBLT and abandon the disadvantages of traditional teaching methods.The new English curriculum standard also points out the direction for English teachers: teachers should transform their roles and liberate them from the role of knowledge imparting,and design real tasks according to their age and cognitive level.All students are encouraged to take part in tasks and finish tasks by means of some learning methods such as communication,discussion and cooperation.The implementation of TBLT can cultivate the students' integrated language skills,but there are still a lot of problems in the implementation.The study of TBLT in China focuses on comparing it with traditional teaching methods.However,there are not enough study about problems in the application of TBLT,especially in primary school.Therefore,this thesis aims at the problems existing in the application of TBLT in primary school,analyzes the reasons and puts forward measures,which aims at helping primary school teacher solve problems and improve teaching efficiency.The author investigated a primary school.The main research methods are: literature research method,questionnaire survey,interview and classroom observation.Through collect research data,the problems in the use of TBLT are found.Through the research,we find out the following problems that exist in the application of TBLT: teachers' aspect: teaching concept does not changed in time;improper task design;teachers lack of awareness and ability;students' aspect: learning concept does not changed;Lack of awareness of teamwork;many "dumb English" students.;Educational environment's aspect:Difficult to implement in large classes;Lack of language application environment;Single assessment method.According to the collected data and information,we find out the reasons for these problems: Teachers' aspect: teachers are outdated in teaching concepts;they do not follow principles when they design tasks;teachers' professional quality is not enough;Students' aspect:students always depend on teacher;pupils are self-centered;students' fundamental knowledge is poor and their vocabulary is limited;Educational environment: they can not take account of all students and achieve the expected results;the influence of mother tongue;they only use summative assessment.The results show that TBLT and the traditional pedagogy have their advantages and disadvantages,and they can combine the advantages of two teaching methods to serve Englishteaching.Although TBLT has good effect,there are still many problems in the application.In order to solve these problems,the thesis puts forward the following suggestions: teachers' aspect:they should change the concept of education and play a variety of roles;they follow principles when they design tasks;English teachers should attend training about TBLT;students' aspect:teachers should stress students' position;teachers cultivate students' ability of cooperative learning;teachers improve students' integrated language skills;educational environment: It should achieve teaching in small class and apply cooperative learning;school and teachers should create a good language learning environment for students;education sector should apply multiple assessment methods.
