Abstract/Summary:
In this study, a GIS-RS-aided environmental management decision support system is developed through the integration of environmental models, GIS and Remote Sensing technologies for the planning and management of Lake Erhai Watershed. The Erhai Environmental Management Decision Support System (ErhaiEMDSS), as a software package, incorporates digital data, optimization models, and system users into a general framework through a variety of user-friendly interfaces. GIS and Remote Sensing technologies are used not only for retrieving and manipulating geo-data, creating 3D Erhai-GIS-model, but also for presenting graphically the planned activities in different spatial units. An important feature of the developed ErhaiEMDSS is that it provides a two-way interactive communication platform between the system and its users, and thus allows system users to interactively be involved in the entire modeling, planning, and decision-making processes, and thus realizing real-time system planning and control.
