Abstract/Summary:
This thesis is an examination of the life and times of Lieutenant Colonel Ramon Franco, the youngest sibling of Generalisimo Francisco Franco of Spain. It discusses Lieutenant Colonel Franco's exploits as a pilot, as well as his political twists and turns. In addition, a number of events in Spanish history are discussed that were antecedents to the Civil War. The war itself is also covered.;Research reveals a man who at one time or another, found himself at both ends of the political spectrum. Beginning his military career as a Monarchist, Ramon then became a Socialist. He later became an Anarchist, and finally ended his life as a Spanish Nationalist fighting against the Republican government he had worked to install. Throughout, and in part because of, these changes in political philosophy, Ramon Franco was involved in or connected to, several of the major events in the history of Spain during the 1920s and 1930s.
