From the earliest hours in the history of mining,the minerals market actors have always sought to meet the demand for minerals.To continue satisfying current and future demand,there has been and will continue to be an increase in the number of mines.This increase in the number of mines,although beneficial for the development of nations,is done by causing environmental impacts,which is making people today to believe that mines are more harmful than beneficial.Both open-pit and underground mining modes affect environment,but the impacts,especially related to dust emissions,are higher in the case of open-pit mines than underground.The dust emitted from open-pit mines affects the quality of the air,of the water,the soil and the biodiversity and if a solution is not found for this problem,it risks making mines surrounding populations? lives very difficult if not impossible.To contribute solving this problem,it is necessary to know dust emissions sources that can help to control dust effectively.This paper takes the SMD open-pit mine as the research background.Firstly,according to the analysis done on the surrounding environment and its elements and population health,the dust impacts are identified.The excel are used to analyse the obtained data and make their graphs.Secondly,according to the different mining operations,the causes of dust emissions in all aspects of open-pit mine production and some sources of dust emissions are summarized.The proportion of dust emissions in each link is listed,and the core content of this paper is determined.The Power Point software is used to schematize the dust emission process of each identified dust emission source,in order to give detailed explanation of the dust emission sources.The high-speed camera is used to take pictures and videos of the mining operations at the SMD.This made it possible to determine the sources of emissions and the circumstances of emissions.Third,dust control technology in SMD open-pit mine is investigated and proposals are made to help them improving their dust control technology.Finally,the conditions of the study area and some technologies of dust emissions control in mines are studied.During these studies,the efficiencies,techno-economics and environmental aspects of dust control technologies are analyzed in accordance with the conditions of the study area in order to find the appropriate technologies for SMD.According to study area conditions,truck speed control and covering of processing plant and conveyors are proposed to SMD as good technologies to control dust emissions.The conclusions of this article can provide a theoretical and practical reference value for dust emissions control in mines.This paper includes 38 figures,13 tables and 73 references.
