Titanium alloy is widely used as the material of engine or turbine blade,bolt fastener and other key parts because of its excellent properties such as light weight and good corrosion resistance.Titanium alloy is one of the materials that are difficult to deform,and its forming quality affects the service performance of titanium alloy products.The formability and mechanical properties of products vary greatly due to different forming processes,forming equipment performance and material characteristics.Forging is one of the main ways of forming key component materials,and different forging processes and equipment have different effects on the performance of forgings.Choosing a proper forging scheme is very important to improve the service performance of titanium alloys.Therefore,in this paper,TC4 alloy was taken as the research object,and the deformation mechanism and related mechanical properties of two common forging methods were analyzed by means of numerical simulation and physical experiments.The main research contents are as follows:(1)The use of hydraulic press and impact force to plastically deform materials in forging are two methods commonly used in the industrial field.The corresponding equipment is a hydraulic press and a forging hammer.Based on the actual investigation of the two kinds of equipment,the characteristics and parameters of the equipment were analyzed.Two kinds of equipment,1250t hydraulic press and 3t free electro-hydraulic forging hammer,were selected to carry out the plastic deformation of TC4 alloy.Meanwhile,the key forging process parameters affecting the forging quality were determined,which laid a foundation for the formulation of forging experiment scheme.(2)Based on the theoretical analysis,two numerical models of forging plastic forming were established,and the effects of different forging process parameters on the strain effective and stress effective of TC4 alloy were analyzed.Taking different forging process parameters as test factors and equivalent strain of forgings as evaluation index,orthogonal test was designed to determine the influence of different forging process parameters on equivalent strain of forgings.(3)Based on the results of orthogonal test,the forging process parameters with uniform distribution of forging's equivalent strain were obtained.At the same time,the differences of the effects of two forging methods on the strain effective and stress effective of forgings under the same forging process parameters were further compared and analyzed.Combined with the results of numerical simulation,the forging experiment scheme was established to further verify the influence of the two forging schemes on the mechanical properties of TC4 alloy forgings.The results show that the performance of forging equipment is different with different forging processes,and the mechanical properties of forgings are also different.It has a certain theoretical significance for further research and development of high-performance forging plastic forming preparation platform.
