Based on the actual data of 108 prefecture-level cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, this paper measures the coupling coordinated development level of economy and ecology in each prefecture-level city from 2003 to 2019 using entropy method and coupling coordination degree model,to explore the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of the coordinated development of economy and ecology;using dagum Gini coefficient and kernel density estimation, this paper further discusses the horizontal difference and dynamic evolution trend of the Yangtze River economic belt;and explores the influencing factors of coordinated development by constructing a spatial econometric model including industrial structure, education, scientific and technological level and infrastructure construction and so on.The results show that :(1)From the perspective of time dimension, the coordinated development level of economy and ecology in the Yangtze River Economic Belt has a significant upward trend, but general speaking, the economic development lags behind the ecological development.(2)From the perspective of spatial evolution, the coordinated development level of economy and ecology presents the spatial distribution characteristics of gradient rising with upward, middle and downstream, and the coordinated development level of the lower reaches is generally higher than that of the middle and upper reaches.(3)From the perspective of regional differences and distribution dynamics, the economic and ecological development of the Yangtze River economic belt is unbalanced, and the gap mainly comes from among regions; The level of coordinated development shows an upward trend, but the dynamic distribution of regional development is different.(4)From the spatial correlation effect, there is significant positive economic and ecology coordination level spatial correlation and spatial agglomeration characteristics significantly, meaning that the coordinated development of economy and ecology space has significant demonstration effect,in other words, the higher the coordinated development of economy and ecology is,the stronger the radiation and driving effect of the coordinated development of its neighboring regions will be.(5)In terms of influencing factors, the upgrading of industrial structure, rationalization of industrial structure, education investment, scientific and technological innovation ability, infrastructure construction and population density have not only direct effects, but also spillover effects, which have an indirect impact on the surrounding cities; The regression results are different in different periods and regions. We should pay attention to formulating policies conducive to local coordinated development according to local conditions and time conditions. The policy implications of the results of this study are as follows:(1)it is necessary to give full play to the driving and exemplary role of coordinated development of regional central cities, strengthen inter-regional exchanges and cooperation, and promote regional coordinated development;(2)Accelerate the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure, increase cooperation and complementary development between upstream and downstream of industrial chain, build industrial chain and realize industrial integration development;(3)We will continue to increase investment in education, tilt educational resources to underdeveloped areas, and promote the balanced development of education;(4)To stimulate the vitality of innovation and improve the level of science and technology, the first is to simplify administration and delegate power, the second is environmental regulation, and the third is to increase investment in science and technology and establish and improve the innovation incentive mechanism;(5)we should strengthen the construction of urban infrastructure and build regional transportation hub, which plays a more prominent role in poverty-stricken remote areas.
