Objective:To explore the therapeutic effect of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy(LSG)on obesity and its complications. Methods:The clinical data of 84 patients who underwent LSG in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from June2013 to December 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. The median follow-up time was 26months(6-84 months). The follow-up indexes included various body weight indexes and many blood indexes. The changes of a series of indexes were compared and analyzed. Results:Laparoscopic surgery was successfully performed in 83 patients except one patient who was converted to laparotomy due to massive bleeding. The average body mass index was(39.3±6.9)kg/m~2.The common complications were obstructive sleep apnea syndrome(66.7%),type 2 diabetes mellitus(20.2%),primary hypertension(17.9%)and gastroesophageal reflux disease(8.3%).The remission rates at 6 months after operation were 66.1%,70.6%,86.7%and 71.4%respectively.At 1,2 and 3 years after operation, the average percentage of weight loss(EWL%)was(81.2±16.4)%,(68.5±14.6)%,(65.5±13.7)%,respectively.The percentage of successful weight loss(EWL%≥50%)was94.3%(n=70),93.3%(n=45)and 91.7%(n=24),respectively.One year after operation, there were 4 patients with poor results, and the EWL%were 47.2%,42.9%,45.6%and44.5%respectively.No serious complications were found. Conclusion:LSG has a clear and effective weight loss effect, and can significantly alleviate obesity related complications. It has been widely used because of its simple operation, safety, high efficiency and fewer complications. However, its long-term efficacy and treatment mechanism for obesity still need to be further studied.
