Objective: By understanding the current situation of continuing education of ICU nurses in terms of subjects,contents and other aspects,as well as the self-feelings of ICU nurses on the curriculum setting,curriculum value and other aspects,and analyzing relevant influencing factors.The purpose is to lay the foundation for continue nursing and improve the quality of continuing education of ICU nurses.Methods: By means of general survey,the current situation and self-feeling of continuing education were investigated among all ICU nurses who met the standards in the top three hospitals in Changchun.The research was carried out in the form of qu -estionnaire survey,including general information of the subjects,continuing education status questionnaire and ICU nurses’ self-feeling scale for continuing education.All data were analyzed by using Excel 2010 database and SPSS 21.0.Statistical analysis mainly using descriptive statistical analysis,independent sample T-test,one-way AN OVA and multiple step-wise linear regression analysis.Results:1.The results showed that the total score of self-feeling of ICU nurses participating in continuing education was(82.45 ± 10.36),and the highest score of the four dimensions was curriculum value,which was(32.02 ± 5.09).2.There were statistically significant differences in the curriculum setting,professional level,teaching content,curriculum value and general self-feeling among ICU nurses whether the labor force sufficient or not,with different final education background,from different sources of continuing education and training expenses,and participated in continuing education training with different frequencies(P < 0.05).3.There were significant differences in curriculum setting among ICU nurses of different levels(P < 0.05).4.The differences of ICU nurses with different professional titles in curriculum value and general self-feeling were statistically significant(P < 0.05).5.There were significant differences among ICU nurses with different initial educational background in curriculum setting,professional level,teaching content and general self-feeling(P < 0.05).6.Multiple step-wise regression showed that whether the labor force was sufficient and the final education background had statistical significance in the total score of general self-feeling of continuing education of ICU nurses(P < 0.05).Conclusions:1.The characteristics of ICU nurses: the gender ratio was wide;the trend of younger was obvious;the number of nurses holding specialist certificate was less.2.The current situation of ICU nurses in continuing education: paid attention to the training of critical care nursing and professional knowledge;the way of training was limited;the training time was less reasonable.3.Curriculum setting has highest satisfaction among all the others,and intensive care nurses are generally satisfied with the self-feeling of continuing education.4.Univariate analysis showed that the factors which influenced ICU nurses’ self-feeling of continuing education included: whether the labor force was sufficient,level,professional title,initial education degree,final education degree,source of expenses,and the number of times of continuing education training in one year.The multiple step-wise regression showed that whether the labor force was sufficient and the final education background were the factors that affected the ICU nurses’ self-feeling in continuing education.5.In order to promote the development of ICU nursing education and improve ICU nurses’ self-feeling of participating in continuing education,health system educators could pay attention to the continuing education need of ICU nurses,stratified training,and ensure the proportion of ICU nursing staff.
