Objective: Under the guidance of career development theory,to understand the current situation of self-identity,career exploration and career maturity of undergraduate nursing students;to compare the differences among self-identity,career exploration and career maturity of undergraduate nursing students in general information;to analyze the correlation between self-identity,career exploration and career maturity of undergraduate nursing students;to explore the influence of self-identity and career exploration on career maturity of undergraduate nursing students. This paper aimed at raising undergraduate nursing students’ awareness of career development, laying the foundation for nursing educators to formulate targeted talent training programs, and providing a theoretical basis for undergraduate nursing students to develop their career plans. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study in non-experimental research and 320 undergraduate nursing students were selected from one university in Jilin Province through convenience sampling. This paper used general information questionnaire, career maturity scale,self-identity scale and career exploration scale.SPSS 26.0 statistical software was applied to statistically analyze the data.In addition, this paper used descriptive analysis,t-test,one-way analysis of variance,Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis.Results:(1)330 questionnaires were distributed in this study,of which 320 were valid, and the questionnaire efficiency rate was 96.9%.There were 195 female students(60.9%)and 125 male students(39.1%)in this research study;129 students(40.3%)were born in rural areas and 191students(59.7%)were born in urban areas;167 students(52.2%)chose nursing as their first choice and 153 students(47.8%)chose nursing as their non-first choice;199(62.2%)were the only children and 121(37.8%)were non-only children.(2)The career maturity score of undergraduate nursing students was(126.78±11.53),which belongs to superior middling, with the highest score of career value dimension(3.92±0.45)and the lowest score of career goal dimension(3.54±0.34).Undergraduate nursing students’ career maturity scores differed in terms of Place of birth, whether they were the only children or not, grade level, whether they participated in clubs at school or not,and father’s education. The differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05).(3)Among the dimensions of self-identity,the scores were present self-involvement(3.77±0.80),future self-involvement desire(3.58±0.71),and past crisis(3.06±0.52).The present self-involvement scores differed in terms of gender, whether they participated in clubs at school or not, grade level, and monthly per capita family income. And the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05).The future self-involvement aspirations differed in terms of grade level and the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05).(4)The total score of career exploration of undergraduate nursing students was(3.34±0.58),which was at a medium level. The differences in career exploration of undergraduate nursing students in terms of Place of birth, whether they were the only child or not, grade, father’s education, and mother’s education were statistically significant(P < 0.05).(5)Undergraduate nursing students’ career maturity scores were positively(P < 0.05)and negatively(P < 0.05)correlated with the scores of self-identity(present self-involvement and future self-involvement aspirations)and with the scores of self-identity(past crisis);career maturity scores were positively(P < 0.05)correlated with the scores of career exploration.(6)In the multiple linear regression model of undergraduate nursing students’ career maturity, the variables of present self-involvement,past crisis, future desire for self-involvement and career exploration together explained 35.1% of the variance in career maturity.Conclusions:(1)The career maturity of undergraduate nursing students was above average, with the highest career value scores in each dimension.Undergraduate nursing students who were from urban areas, the only child, enrolled in clubs at school, the fourth year of college, and had father with college or higher education had better career maturity profiles.(2)Undergraduate nursing students scored highest in self-identity(present self-involvement,past crises and future self-involvement aspirations)for present self-involvement.Among them, undergraduate nursing students who were male, participated in clubs at school,fourth-year students and had a monthly per capita family income of more than $4,000 had a better situation of present self-involvement;undergraduate nursing students who were freshmen and fourth-year students had a better situation of desire for future self-involvement.(3)Undergraduate nursing students’ career exploration was at a moderate level, with the highest score of self-exploration among all dimensions.Undergraduate nursing students who were from urban areas, the only children, seniors, and fathers and mothers with college or higher education had better career exploration.(4)There was a positive correlation between self-identity(present self-involvement,future self-involvement desire)and career exploration;a positive correlation between self-identity(present self-involvement,future self-involvement desire),career exploration and career maturity;and a negative correlation between self-identity(past crisis)and career maturity.(5)Self-identity(present self-involvement,past crisis, and future self-involvement desire)and career exploration predicted undergraduate nursing students’ career maturity level.
