| ObjectiveIn this study,a prospective randomized controlled clinical study was conducted to observe the clinical efficacy comparison of acupuncture and oral treatment of varicocele symptoms with the use of statistical evaluation to demonstrate the feasibility of acupuncture in the treatment of varicocele symptoms,so as to provide an effective acupuncture treatment plan for the treatment of this disease.MethodsAccording to the diagnostic criteria, inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria,a total of 60 varicocele patients from the outpatient department of Dade Road Hospital and Ershadao Hospital of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were included. They were divided into treatment group(acupuncture group)and control group(drug group)with 30 patients each by simple randomization. Methods:The treatment group was treated by acupuncture 3 times a week as a course of treatment, continuous treatment for 3 courses, acupoint prescription:Taichong(LR3),Zhongfeng(LR4),Sanyinjiao(SP6),Zusanli(ST36),Jimai(LR12),Qichong(ST30);The control group was required to take Aescuven forte for 1 week as a course of treatment, and took 3 courses of treatment continuously.Outcome measures:Simple McGill Scale,Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS).The simple McGill scale was completed before treatment,at the end of treatment and at the follow-up(2 months after the end of treatment). Both groups completed the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)before treatment and at follow-up(2 months after treatment).Efficacy evaluation:The efficacy was evaluated by the improvement of scale scores before treatment, after treatment and during follow-up.Result1.Baseline comparison:There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of age, course of disease, simple McGill score before treatment,SAS score before treatment, and SDS score before treatment, and the two groups were comparable.2.Comparison of simple McGill scores:before treatment, after treatment and during follow-up,simple McGill scores were compared between the two groups using paiwise rank sum test, all of which were P<0.05,the difference had statistical significance, and at the time of two groups after treatment and follow-up rating was low,the show symptoms of two methods of treatment of varicocele has certain curative effect, and at the time of the treatment group after treatment and follow-up rating relative score before treatment were superior to control group, improve the method of the acupuncture treatment of varicocele symptoms than the control group; The scores of the two groups at follow-up were lower than those after treatment, indicating that the efficacy of both treatment methods decreased after treatment was stopped.3.Comparison of SAS score and SDS score:Rank sum test was used for SAS score and SDS score of the two groups before treatment and during follow-up,respectively,both of which were P<0.05,indicating that the difference is statistically significant. The SAS and SDS scores at follow-up were lower than the pre-treatment scores in both groups, indicating that the improvement of chronic testicular pain would also improve the mood of patients.4.Comparison of overall clinical efficacy:the comparison of short-term efficacy and long-term efficacy between the two groups was performed by rank sum test, and both were P<0.05,indicating that the difference is statistically significant. The short-term and longterm curative effects of the treatment group were better than those of the control group.5.Significant adverse events and accidents occurred in both groups during the study.ConclusionThe clinical effect of acupuncture in treating varicocele is better than that of oral administration alone.Because acupuncture is simple and safe, has no obvious side effects and high reproducibility,it can be used as a clinical method to treat varicocele symptoms. |
