| ObjectiveThe purpose of this study is to investigate the AIDS knowledge of college students in Tianjin,compare the differences among college students in different backgrounds,and explore the influencing factors of AIDS knowledge awareness.It aims to improve the awareness rate of AIDS knowledge and provide a scientific basis for the promotion of AIDS prevention and education among college students in Tianjin.MethodsUsing the self-designed questionnaire for AIDS knowledge of college students designed by Tianjin Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,and conducting online questionnaire surveys in 29 colleges and universities in Tianjin.Respondents voluntarily filled in anonymously through the “Questionnaire Star” and submitted the results directly to the Internet.Data analysis adopts SPSS22.0 software.Chi-square test was used to compare the difference in knowledge rates of AIDS prevention knowledge among college students with different characteristics.Using Logistic regression to screen the influencing factors of AIDS knowledge awareness among college students in Tianjin.A classification tree model was constructed to analyze the influencing factors of AIDS knowledge awareness rate.Results1)A total of 11,288 college students in Tianjin were surveyed,of which 51.5% were boys and 48.5% were girls.The average age was(18.96 ± 1.11)years.The compliance rate of college students ’knowledge of AIDS prevention and control was 78.7%.The correct rate for each question ranges from 70.9% to 94.2%.The survey shows that college students have a higher awareness of the correct use of condoms and timely seeking of HIV counseling and testing services to reduce the risk of HIV infection.In the same time,the rate of knowledge awareness of non-transmission,the status of AIDS epidemic,the risk of new drug infections,and the legal power of AIDS patients are low.2)The proportion of college students receiving sex education and AIDS prevention and control education was 63.7% and 24.8% respectively.The channels for college students to obtain AIDS knowledge mainly include the Internet(76.5%),brochures or bulletin boards(68.6%),and school teachers(66.0%).The most popular AIDS propaganda models include poster design competition(60.6%),video animation design contests(51.4%),and knowledge contests(45.1%).3)There were significant differences in the awareness rates of gender,household registration,ethnicity,school type,major type,grade,sexual orientation,sexual behavior,sexual behavior in the past year,frequency of condom use in the latest year,sexual education,and AIDS education through single-factor Logistic regression analysis(P <0.05).Substituting the above factors into the multi-factor Logistic regression analysis found that higher vocational colleges(OR =5.674,P =0.005,95% CI: 1.682 ~19.140)are the driving factors of AIDS knowledge awareness rate,and women(OR = 0.661,P = 0.018,95% CI: 0.468 ~0.932),cultural and history majors(OR = 0.516,P = 0.07,95% CI: 0.252 ~1.506),and sexual partners in the past year include both fixed and temporary partners(OR = 0.468,P = 0.014,95% CI: 0.256 ~0.856)are risk factors of AIDS knowledge awareness rate.4)Influencing factors of AIDS awareness rate in the decision tree model include school type,major type and gender.The decision tree model is divided into four layers,including 14 nodes and 8 end nodes.There is an interaction between school type and major type,which has the greatest impact on the knowledge rate of AIDS.The results showed that college students of medical majors had the highest awareness rate of AIDS(94.3%),and female college students had the lowest awareness rate of AIDS(66.9%).The prediction accuracy of the model is 78.7%,and the prediction value is good.ConclusionAlthough college students in Tianjin have some knowledge of the basics of AIDS,they lack a comprehensive and systematic understanding,and the AIDS education coverage is incomplete.The influencing factors of AIDS awareness among college students include school type,major type and gender.This study suggests that we should formulate corresponding HIV intervention plans based on the psychological and behavioral characteristics of college students of different backgrounds.Relevant departments should make effective use of students ’perfect activities such as knowledge competitions to increase the participation,and actively carry out various forms of AIDS health education,so as to improve college students’ AIDS awareness level and reduce the spread of AIDS on university campuses. |
