Objective Through the questionnaire survey to11different collegesand universities of college students in Dalian. Analysis the differencebetween undergraduate students and students, medical students andnon-medical students. To understand the current status of the knowledgerelated to HIV/AIDS among the college students in Dalian, in order toprovide evidence for better AIDS prevention and control work.Methods3000college students of eleven different types ofuniversity of Dalian were surveyed. With reference to the related researchin china and other country, the questionnaire was finally determined afterdiscussed by experts and the preliminary experiment. Use self-administeredquestion survey, questionnaire include two parts, basic knowledge androute of transmission about AIDS, a total of22questions. The part of basicknowledge about AIDS included disease characteristics, present situation,the preventive measures and treatment of AIDS, a total of12questions. Theroute of transmission about AIDS included three main route of transmissionand unconventional route of transmission, a total of10questions. Thequestionnaire‘s granting, verification and recycling by trained interviewerson the spot. Build database by EpiData3.0, data was imputed by twodifferent people and check consistency. All data were checked and treatedstatistically by SPSS17.0software. The reliability of questionnaire wasestimated by Cronbach’s alpha coefficients, it is highly correlated withα>0.7, the validity of questionnaire was estimated by face validity andcontent validity, the chi-square test was applied, there was a statisticalsignificance, when P<0.05occurred with two-sided test.Results Recycling effective questionnaire2951,2528Undergraduatestudents (85.67%),423junior college students (14.33%);623medical students (21.11%),2328non-medical students (78.89%). The resultsshowed, In basic knowledge of AIDS, totally awareness rate is72.30%(25602/35412),the college students of Dalian known well in condoms forAIDS prevention and HIV/AIDS treatment, but not well in med tuberculosismerger of HIV infection and AIDS incubation period of asymptomatic, forthe younger trend of AIDS, the awareness rate is only45.4%.In knowledgeof the spread of HIV/AIDS, totally awareness rate is60.87%(17964/29510),the college students of Dalian known well in three main route oftransmission (awareness rate≥86.2%), but had some confuse inunconventional route of transmission, such as the spread of HIV caused bydrugs, for mother-to-child HIV transmission risk rate, the awareness rate isonly20.7%. Except few questions, no matters in terms of AIDS basicknowledge or route of transmission, undergraduate students were betterthan junior college students, and some questions were obtained statisticalsignificance. For most questions, the awareness rates of medical studentswere higher than non-medical students, and some questions were obtainedstatistical significance.Conclusion The college students of Dalian have some understanding ofHIV/AIDS knowledge, but also have some unclear knowledge points, theawareness rate of undergraduate students were better than junior collegestudents, medical students were better than non-medical students. It isnecessary to promote the health education of HIV/AIDS prevention amongthe graduate students, improve their understanding of HIV/AIDS.
