Since April 28,2018,when the nine-valent vaccine developed by Merck Sharp & Dohme was conditionally approved by the State Drug Administration for marketing in China,HPV vaccine-related research has aroused keen interest from all sectors of society as an important web-based topic in the fields of medicine, health communication, and health prevention. This study focuses on the field of health communication, and uses the health belief model and media exposure theory to construct a theoretical model in order to investigate the current overall level of public awareness of HPV vaccine. After combing the literature in related fields at home and abroad with the help of literature research method and forming a relatively clear research idea, this study combines questionnaire survey method, content analysis method and in-depth interview method to examine the public perception. After analyzing the current situation of vaccine information dissemination and the results of spss data analysis, the author found that public awareness of HPV vaccine varies, but the overall level of awareness and understanding is low.The main manifestations are high motivation of HPV vaccination intention, but one-sided understanding of HPV vaccinerelated information and solidified information acquisition channels.Further exploration of the above issues revealed that they are not only influenced by the public’s media exposure, but also limited by the public’s established level of perceived health beliefs. In addition,by examining the public’s HPV vaccine cognitive level with the help of health belief model and media exposure theory model,it can be found that public media exposure, media literacy and HPV vaccine cognitive level are significantly correlated, and the variability of public media exposure to health information directly affects cognitive level;meanwhile, the public’s self-consciousness of severity,illness,self-interest in action, barriers, and self-efficacy are all significantly correlated with cognitive level.Meanwhile, the public’s perceived severity, risk of illness, perceived benefits and barriers to action, and self-efficacy were all significantly correlated with perceived level, which in turn influenced the public’s intention and behavior of HPV vaccination.Based on the above study,in order to enable the public to have relatively objective and scientific HPV vaccine cognition, the author starts from macro, meso and micro perspectives, based on the macro control and guidance of HPV vaccine information by government departments and official medical institutions, and the formation of multi-linkage by taking advantage of all parties;from the meso perspective, the media and medical supply service enterprises enhance their awareness of responsibility to correctly guide the public with high-quality HPV vaccine information;and from the micro perspective, focusing on the public cognition of HPV vaccine. On the micro level,we should focus on the improvement of public health literacy and the change of "all-gender" perception of HPV vaccine,so that the current hype of commercial HPV vaccine can be reduced and the public perception level can be more comprehensive and objective.
