ObjectiveTo investigate and analyze the status quo of health literacy, perceived social support ability and self-management level of patients with chronic kidney disease, and to explore the correlation and influencing factors among the three variables,so as to provide theoretical basis and support for seeking effective intervention measures to improve health literacy, perceive social support ability and self-management of patients with chronic kidney disease.MethodsIn this study,520 patients with chronic kidney disease in nephrology wards of three tertiary general hospitals in Tai’an City were selected by convenient sampling method.Questionnaires were conducted with self-designed general demographic data questionnaire,Health Literacy Scale for patients with chronic diseases, perceived social support scale and self-management scale.Data were analyzed with SPSS21.0 statistical software. The statistical methods were chiefly chi-square test, variance analysis and Pearson correlation analysis. The test level is α=0.05.Results1.Current status of health literacy, perceived social support ability and self-management level of patients with chronic kidney diseaseThe total score of health literacy of 520 patients with chronic kidney disease was(105.59±10.16).The four dimensions were: information acquisition(47.97±4.87),communication and interaction ability(18.01±2.38),improvement of health willingness(18.41±2.34),and financial support willingness(17.20±2.27).The total score of perceived social support ability was(60.08±3.49).The scores of three dimensions were: family support(19.68±1.93),friend support(20.67±2.13)and other support(19.72±2.15).The total score of self-management was(107.05±3.46).The four dimensions were: self-regulation(42.74±1.88),problem solving(33.51±1.38),social support(17.04±1.63),compliance(13.76±1.30).2.Influencing factors of health literacy, perceived social support ability and self-management level of patients with chronic kidney disease(1)Single factor analysis of patients’ health literacy showed that age, education level, occupation, marital status, ability to bear medical expenses, living style and hospitalization times were the main influencing factors(P < 0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that education level, occupation, living style were independent influencing factors of health literacy in patients with chronic kidney disease, which explained 32.4% of the variance.(2)Single factor analysis of perceived social support ability showed that occupation, living style, income and medical security were the main influencing factors(P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that living style, economic income, medical security were independent influencing factors of perceived social support ability in patients with chronic kidney disease, which explained 30.7% of the variance.(3)Single factor analysis of self-management showed that education level, occupation, living style and hospitalization times were the main influencing factors(P <0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that education level, occupation and living style were independent influencing factors of self-management in patients with chronic kidney disease, which explained 36.8% of the variance.3.Spearman correlation analysis showed that health literacy and perceived social support ability of patients with chronic kidney disease were positively correlated with the total score of self-management.Conclusion(1)The health literacy, perceived social support ability and self-management of patients with chronic kidney disease were on the upper middle level.(2)The health literacy level of the patients aged 41-60,with high educational level, married, higher medical expenses,non-solitary residence and fewer hospitalizations is relatively high;the level of perceived social support ability of the administrative personnel, public medical treatment and non-solitary patients is relatively high;the level of education is relatively high, the administrative personnel,non-solitary residence and the number of hospitalizations is relatively low.Patients had a relatively high level of self-management.(3)There is a positive correlation between health literacy, perceived social support ability and self-management of patients with chronic kidney disease. The improvement of both can promote the improvement of self-management ability of patients. In clinical nursing practice, medical staff should formulate effective intervention measures according to patients’ understanding of the difference between social support ability and health literacy level,so as to improve patients’ self-management level.
