| Aim:To objectively evaluate the clinical efficacy and impact on patients’ quality of life of acupoint catgut embedding combined with Alpha Hydroxyl Acid compared with Alpha Hydroxyl Acid in the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris.Method:Patients with mild to moderate acne vulgaris who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were divided into trial group(36 cases)and control group(36 cases)according to the random number table. The trial group was treated with acupoint catgut embedding combined with Alpha Hydroxyl Acid, while the control group was treated with Alpha Hydroxyl Acid alone,1 treatment every 2 weeks,3 treatments in total. Before treatment and 1 week after the end of the last treatment, the patients’ skin lesion score, skin physiological index and TCM syndrome score were observed and evaluated for efficacy evaluation. The specific quality of life scale scores of acne vulgaris patients before and after treatment were compared for quality of life evaluation, and the occurrence of adverse reactions was recorded for safety analysis.SPSS 26.0 software was used for statistical analysis of clinical data.Result:1.A total of 72 subjects were included in this study.Seven subjects were dislodged during the trial, including three in the trial group and four in the control group. No serious adverse events occurred during the study. The final inclusion analysis was 33 cases in the test group and 32 cases in the control group.2.There was no significant differences of the baseline characteristics in the trial group and the control group(P >0.05).3.The total effective rate(healing rate + significant rate + effective rate)of the test group was higher than that of the control group(P <0.05).4.The results of skin physiological indexes showed that the red zone and purple substance in both the trial group and the control group were significantly improved(P<0.05).Influenced by the quantitative detection characteristics of the index and the small sample size of this study, there was a trend of better improvement of the red zone in the trial group than in the control group, but there was no statistically significant difference(P =0.067).5.The improvement of TCM syndromes in trial group was better than that in control group(P <0.05).6.The quality of life scores of trial group and control group were significantly higher than those before treatment(P <0.05).Conclusion:1.The clinical efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding combined with Alpha Hydroxyl Acid in the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris is higher than that of Alpha Hydroxyl Acid alone, and it has significant advantages in improving TCM syndromes.2.The effect of Alpha Hydroxyl Acid on improving the red zone and purple substance of skin is remarkable, which indicates that Alpha Hydroxyl Acid can improve skin inflammation and inhibit the growth of propionibacterium acnes. The effect of acupoint catgut embedding combined with Alpha Hydroxyl Acid may be better than that of Alpha Hydroxyl Acid alone in improving red skin area.Subjects’ quality of life improved somewhat after treatment.3.As a combination therapy without obvious adverse reactions, acupoint catgut embedding combined with Alpha Hydroxyl Acid has a good clinical effect in the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris, which is worthy of promotion. |
