A Practice Report On Translating 2018 Amazon Strategy Teardown In Light Of Reiss’s Text Typology Theory

In recent years,the e-commerce platform has developed rapidly.Along with the fast development of enterprises,the translation of corporate development strategy text should also be developed accordingly,which is of practical significance to learn from the translation of foreign corporate development strategy.This translation practice report,based on Reiss’ s Text Typology Theory,analyzes the English-Chinese translation of 2018 Amazon Strategy Teardown undertaken by the author.First of all,the original text can be classified as informative text guided by Reiss’ s Text Typology Theory.Therefore,the translation should be standard in terms,precise in wording and clear in logicality,so as to convey the relevant information expressed in the original text to the readers more accurately and efficiently when translating.In addition,this paper also analyzes the principles and strategies,aiming to reflect the guiding significance of Text Typology Theory for the translation of this text.Firstly,this paper gives a brief introduction to translation task and reviews Reiss’ s Text Typology Theory and its application in second part.The third part briefly introduces the specific translation process,including pre-translation preparation,translation process and proofreading and modification.The fourth part presents the specific case analysis.On the basis of Reiss’ s Text Typology Theory and in combination with the characteristics of the translation practice materials,the author summarizes the translation principles of information-based texts,that is fidelity,accuracy and readability,and uses specific translation skills and strategies,so as to conform to the expression habits of the target language as much as possible,and convey the information of original text to the utmost.Finally,the author summarizes the findings and limitations for reference.By conducting this particular practice report,the author finds that text type is one of the basic factors for the translator to understand the function and purpose of the text as well as the author’s intention.Reiss’ s Text Typology Theory plays a good guiding role for translators to analyze text functions,determine translation standards and strategies of informative texts,and improve translation quality.
