With the further improvement of globalization and internationalization,mastering the universal language has become a basic quality of modern citizens,especially spoken English.However,for a long time,due to the influence of the test-oriented education,in the practice of foreign language teaching in our country,teachers generally pay insufficient attention to spoken English,especially in the basic education stage.Therefore,it is necessary to understand the main influencing factors of students’ oral English ability in the basic education stage,and to explore effective ways to improve students’ oral English ability.However,most of the existing research focuses on oral evaluation criteria.The research on the influencing factors of oral English ability only pays attention to one aspect,and fails to comprehensively assess the current situation of oral English ability.The author demonstrates the oral English ability of the first and second grade students of the Third Experimental School in Qixingguan District of Bijie by displaying the video in oral English and learning the oral English evaluation ability of the third experimental school in Bijie,and comprehensively understands and analyzes the current situation and characteristics of junior middle school students’ oral English ability.The evaluation criteria consists of six indicators-accuracy,fluency,appropriateness,degree of task completion,degree of communication strategy use,and emotional attitude.Afterwards,three junior high school English teachers were interviewed to learn about the main factors affecting the oral English of junior high school students.The research questions in this paper are mainly the characteristics of the English proficiency of junior high school students in terms of accuracy,fluency,decent level,degree of task completion,degree of communication strategy and emotional attitude.What are the factors that influence the analysis of the ability of junior high school students to speak English? To clarify the credibility of the scoring data,the authors performed a reliability and validity analysis of the data.The study used descriptive statistical analysis to show students’ oral English ability and used correlation analysis to understand the relationship between the six indicators.The ultimate goal of junior high school English teaching is to improve students’ ability to communicate in English.However,due to the deep influence of exam-oriented education,junior high school English teachers always regard students’ reading,writing and listening ability as the teaching focus,neglecting the teaching of students’ oral communication ability,and violate the teaching guidance of thenew curriculum reform.This paper combines the teaching philosophy of the new curriculum reform,and discusses how to effectively improve the English communication ability of junior high school students.
