Application Of CAT Tools In Translation Of Texts On Civil Engineering

Driven by economic globalization,the international exchanges are increasing,the demand for translation services is booming,and the translation projects are becoming more complex.The traditional translation mode is difficult to meet the requirements of the rapidly developing translation industry,and the time of Computer-aided Translation(CAT)has come.This report is based on the E-C translation practice of civil engineering texts.The author analyzes the necessity and feasibility of applying CAT tools to the translation of civil engineering texts by taking journal papers on the topic of Building Information Modeling(BIM)as text examples.The author explores the application of CAT tools in the pre-translation,while-translation and post-translation phases,reflects on the limitations of CAT tools,and puts forward some suggestions.The pre-translation involves the processing of file formats,the creation of termbase and translation memory;the while-translation involves the application of termbase,machine translation plugin and translation memory in SDL Trados Studio,the post-translation involves quality assurance and language asset management.In the case analysis part,the author combines the examples to describe the application of CAT tools in simplifying the format processing,reusing the language assets and controlling the translation quality.This paper has positive implications for further deepening the understanding of CAT tools and promoting the application of CAT tools in translation of texts on civil engineering.
