Based on the concept of new English Curriculum in senior high school,it is an effective way to construct a student-centered classroom teaching activity. This study uses questionnaires, interviews and classroom observation to investigate and analyze the English teachers and students in Xunwu NO.2 Middle School,in order to comprehensively and systematically investigate the classroom activities implementation situation in reading teaching. The research questions can be summarized as follows:(1)What activities do teachers tend to use in reading teaching? What classroom activities do students prefer to participate in?(2)What about the design, implementation and reflection of reading class activities?(3)What about students’ attitude and evaluation towards reading activities?According to the questionnaires, and the observation as well as interviews results, there are some problems in the reading classroom:(1)the survey results show that 63.3%teachers seldom contact students’ interest and actual situation to design activities, and about 35% students are dissatisfied with activities, and hold a negative attitude to it;(2)the classroom observation results show that teachers’ explanations account the most time in teaching, the input and output time are obviously out of balance, such as teachers’ explanations and students’ answering questions accounting for 60% and 40% respectively,it is not good for students to cultivate a sense of subjectivity;(3)the interview results show that 60% of the teachers mainly reflect whether to improve students’ examination points, ignoring whether students participate in the activities.Based on the above analysis, this paper puts forward relevant teaching suggestions for teachers:(1)To design the activities which most students prefer;(2)To balance the input and output activities proportion, encourage students to read independently, and actively express their opinions;(3)Teachers’ reflection should be combined with the students’ needs and the examination syllabus requirements,so as to improve the teaching design and implementation steps, and the following classroom teaching effect will be improved at the same time.
