| The computer software industry has become one of the most promising emerging industries.Many countries are taking effective measures to develop the information and communication technology and information industry in an effort to accelerate domestic informatization process.However,the lack of quantitative standards for the software industry hinders the healthy development of the software project.Therefore,the translation of documents about software project management has certain academic and referential value.The source text of the translation task,which can be categorized as EST(English for Science and Technology),is excerpted from a book Quantifying Software—Global and Industry Perspectives written by Capers Jones and published in 2018.To ensure the accuracy of the target text,the translator deals with the source text by employing literal translation,conversion,inversion and division.The report consists of four chapters:Chapter One introduces the translation task,which includes the background information,features of the source text and significance of the translation task.Chapter Two describes the translation process,including the preparation before translation,translation process and quality control.Chapter Three is the key part of this translation report,covering some typical cases analyzed from lexical,syntactic and discourse levels.Chapter Four is the conclusion of this report,which summarizes the translation experiences,lessons and unsolved problems in this translation practice.EST translation with proper translation skills is presented in this task under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory.This report can provide the latest information of foreign industry for domestic software developers.Meanwhile,it is also expected to provide some reference for the scientific English translation. |
