| The English Curriculum Standards for General Senior High Schools(2017Edition)mentions that students should be trained to work in English, that is,students should be trained to speak, write and translate effectively in English in real communication.Writing is based on the correct input and understanding of vocabulary, sentence pattern and grammar, and through certain training and simulation to achieve effective output. However, due to the excessive pressure of the college entrance examination in senior high schools, most English teachers will focus on the final scores, ignoring students’ writing from language input to effective output, resulting in the separation of learning and using. In order to solve this problem,Professor Wen Qiufang,an expert in foreign language education in China, and her team established the production-oriented approach based on the principle of combining input learning with output application.Based on the production-oriented approach proposed by Professor Wen Qiufang, the following research questions were explored by the mixed research method: 1.What are the current problems in English writing teaching in senior high schools? 2.What influence will the production-oriented approach have on students’ learning of language, content and discourse structure? This study selected 174 students from Tongliao No.5 Senior High School as the main research object, and conducted a phased observation study on them for 16 weeks. In the course of the study, relevant data were collected by means of questionnaires, writing tests and teacher-student interview texts, and the data statistics software SPSS25.0 was used to analyze the data statistics.Statistical analysis shows that there are the following problems in English writing teaching in senior high schools:Firstly,in traditional English writing classes, teachers do not pay enough attention to the cultivation of students’ interest in writing.Secondly,it can be seen from the students’ problems in the content of writing, language and text structure that the teacher did not conduct guided learning to students based on the input materials provided and did not perform corresponding input in accordance with the three aspects of content, language, and structure based on the characteristics of writing. Finally, the teacher did not promptly and actively evaluate and feedback on the students’ learning effects. At the same time, the study found that the application of the production-oriented approach in the senior high school English writing classes can improve students’ language, content and text structure, and also bring some enlightenment to teachers in English writing teaching. Therefore, the production-oriented approach can improve the problems existing in English writing teaching in senior high school to a certain extent,so as to improve students’ English writing level and performance, provide practical reference for senior high school English teachers to carry out production-oriented teaching in English writing classes, and promote teachers’ professional development. |
