A Study On The Image Of Intellectuals In Li Jieren’s Novels

Li Jieren’s novels focus on the ideological pursuit and living conditions of intellectuals in Bashu society during the historical turning point,and show the typical images of intellectuals in different historical nodes in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China and the 1930 s and 1940 s from the perspective of diachronism and synchronicity.The writer adheres to his own path,keeps a clear sense of independence,and truly restores the real life state of intellectuals who have linked complicated social relations in the period of modern historical change with a sincere and objective realistic attitude and diversified brushwork.On the one hand,the image of intellectuals in Li Jieren’s works is Li Jieren’s literary writing of the history he experienced as a historical participant and witness,bearing the writer’s profound thinking on history;On the other hand,it also shows Li Jieren’s thinking on the value of human existence and his concern for human life in troubled times.This paper mainly studies the intellectual image in Li Jieren’s novels from three aspects:the creative theme of Li Jieren’s novels,the types of intellectual image,and the artistic techniques and characteristics of shaping intellectual image.The first chapter explains the theme and background of Li Jieren’s historical and realistic novels,and shows the historical and realistic logic of his intellectuals.The second chapter analyzes the image pedigree of intellectuals in Li Jieren’s works from the historical logic and ideological characteristics,and shows that different types of intellectuals in his works are typical intellectuals of the historical nodes he represents.The third chapter analyzes the writer’s insistence on showing the historical and life realism of intellectuals in Li Jieren’s works under the guidance of unique realistic writing style,and realizing the high correspondence between characters and novel content thoughts.The fourth chapter analyzes the literary and historical values of intellectuals described by writers,as well as the writers’ positions and attitudes towards intellectuals who made multiple choices of life values during the turbulent period of history.On the basis of the full text,the conclusion part summarizes the images of intellectuals in Li Jieren’s novels again.
