| Vocabulary is an indispensable part of English teaching.The new curriculum standard in2017 clearly requires that primary school students can initially use about 400 secondary words to express the corresponding topics of secondary regulations.However,in many areas,the vocabulary teaching method commonly used in primary and secondary schools is mainly mechanical memory,which is difficult to mobilize students’ enthusiasm and stimulate their interest in learning.English picture books,with beautiful binding and simple sentence patterns,can stimulatepupils’ interest inlearningand promotetheir English vocabulary learning.The study is conducted in the experimental class and the control class respectively,through the SPSS statistical analysis,questionnaire survey and interview results analysis of the data of each unit of vocabulary test.The following 3 questions are answered: first,whether English picture books can improve primary school students’ vocabulary reading level;second,whether English picture books can stimulate students’ interest in English vocabulary learning;finally,whether English picture books can improve the classroom participation of primary school students.It is found that picture books vocabulary teaching differs from traditional vocabulary teaching.Through picture books,students can carry out interesting replacement games,accumulate new sentence patterns and vocabulary,experience the emotions of characters,experience the charm of English language,and develop the habit of reading,which is not possessed by the latter.With the help of the characteristics of picture book teaching,the accuracy of vocabulary memory and the accuracy of distinguishing vocabulary pronunciation of the experimental class are significantly higher than those of the control class,and the vocabulary level is significantly improved;picture book teaching encourages students to learn vocabulary through imitation and replacement practice,which can effectively attract students into the classroom and increase their participation in the classroom;picture book has interesting language situation,authentic English expression and the establishment of vocabulary memory Remembering tiescan stimulatestudents’ interestin learning English.Through the application of English picture books in English Vocabulary Teaching in primary schools,it is found that teachers can choose the appropriate picture books according to students’ learning level to enrich the classroom content;when teaching picture books,pay attention to the native language to cultivate students’ ability of understanding English language;at the same time,teachers can make good use of the situation created by picture books,and combine them with the teaching materials We should combine different exercises to memorize the target vocabulary.In a word,the application of picture books in primary school English vocabulary teaching can effectively improve the disadvantages of traditional vocabulary teaching,andhelp topromotelearners’ English vocabularylearning. |
