The Quality Assessment Of The Translation Of Academic Papers Based On Si Xianzhu’s TQA Model

Academic papers are the crystallization of academic research and important tools to break the barriers of academic exchanges between China and the West.With the increasingly close academic exchanges between China and the West,translation plays an important role in “bringing in and going out”.The Chinese-English translation of academic papers is helpful for western scholars to grasp the research trend of Chinese scholars in related fields accurately,and share scientific research achievements.However,previous studies on translation of academic papers mainly focused on translation methods,principles and strategies,and the research on translation quality assessment was inadequate.Si Xianzhu’s TQA model is adopted and the English version of the academic paper The Narrative Evolution of the Images of “New Rural People” and Changes of Land Systems:Based on The Sun Shines Over the Sanggan River,Builders of A New Life,The Ordinary World and Wheat River which was translated by the writer is chosen as the object for translation quality assessment in this report.The model is as follows: 1.Microscopically,to analyze the clauses to reveal and describe the deviations in ideational meanings and interpersonal meanings of the translated text.;2.Macroscopically,to reexamine deviations and exclude the deviations that do no harm to the translation quality;3.To revise the the deviations that have impact on the translation quality;4.To determine the weight of the impact of deviation according to the text types;5.To evaluate the quality of the translation as a whole.Si’s TQA model provides the theoretical basis for translation quality assessment and helps to find out the deviations in ideational meanings and interpersonal meanings.Based on the deviations,the translated text can be revised,thus improving thetranslation skills of the translator and proving some perspectives for the translation of academic papers.
