| In November 2019,the fourth “Reading Promotion Summit Forum for College students”was held at Tianjin University of Finance and Economics.The author provided simultaneous interpreting services for the forum.This report mainly takes Mr.Jiang Zilong’s speech“Reading and Writing” as a case study object.The author analyzes the problems encountered in interpreting the speaker’s speech and attempts to propose corresponding interpreting strategies.The interpreted corpus has three characteristics: first,the theme of the speech is culture;Then,the speaker takes long examples which results in unclear focal point and sentence fragment;Finally,the speaker often uses loosely structured expressions.These all pose challenges for the author.At the same time,the speech corpus contains a large number of professional words,background knowledge and phrases and sentence with colloquial features.Problems such as repetitive sentences,vague expressions,and disfluency also appeared.The author used the interpretative theory as the theoretical basis of this practical report.The triangular model of the interpretative theory: comprehension,deverbalization and reformulation.Based on this framework,the author constructed an extended theoretical framework.The comprehension stage is divided into the linguistic level and non-linguistic level: Cognitive Complement;In the stage of deverbalization,the author emphasized on the information restructuring to ensure the completeness of the information;In the stage of reformulation,the original information and order need to be combined with language style and characteristics.In this way,the language produced conforms to the cognitive habits of the audience.In this framework,the author conducted an in-depth theoretical analysis of vocabulary,sentence structure,and discourse logic cases in each stage,thus realizing the combination of theory and practice.The author reflected and summarized the successful cases of applying the interpretative theory.The author also analyzed,modified,and improved the unsatisfactory interpreted text.Through comprehensive analysis,the author analyzed and summarized the interpreting strategies and proposed corresponding solutions.The interpreter must reduce redundant information.The interpreter should focus on logical conjunctions.The interpreter should do self-correction work.The interpreter should continuously improve the English-Chinese language ability,pre-task preparation ability and key information identification ability.This practice report can provide inspiration and reference for the author’s and professional translators’ future interpreting practice.In this way,the interpreter can avoid interpreting errors in simultaneous interpretation and improve interpreting quality. |
