| Li Yangbing is a famous calligrapher of Zhuanshu(a style of Chinese calligraphy,often used on seals)during the middle and late Tang Dynasty.An expert in paleography and good at Xiaozhuan,he was called respectfully “Treasure of Characters of Tang Dynasty”.In the history of Chinese calligraphy,he served as a link between the past and the future,inheriting the legacy left behind by Li Si of Qin Dynasty and setting a new course for the generations to come after Tang Dynasty.Despite the decline of Zhuanshu after Qin Dynasty,Li Yangbing concentrated himself in it,revised the relevant book ‘Shuo Wen’,and had a profound influence on the development of Zhuangshu ever after.This paper aims to do a research on Li’s Zhuanshu,with reference to the author’s own creating experience.The research is consist of three parts: Chapter One focuses on the forming reasons of Li’s Zhuanshu style,containing four subsections,namely the historical background of Tang Dynasty,Li’s life stories,Li’s ideas on calligraphy and his methodology;Chapter Two deals with the characteristics of Li’s Zhuanshu,dividing into three subsections about the strokes,the structure of characters and the writing rules respectively;Chapter Three focuses on the influence of Li’s Zhuanshu on the author’s creating activities,including three subsections about the author’s practice based on Li’s Zhuanshu,the author’s references to other Zhuanshu calligraphers and the prospect of the author’s own creating activities respectively.Combining the research of Li’s Zhuanshu with the author’s own practice,the paper aims at a further understanding of the former and an improvement of the author’s own creating activities. |
