Report On The E-C Translation Of The Game Design Textbook Entitled Rules Of Play

At present,the domestic game products are in the process of high-quality and quantitative transformation,which requires the talents who have systematically studied the game production should possess related knowledge.At the same time,the game industry as a rare "reverse growth" industry during the epidemic period,attracted a growing number of people who are dedicated to the game industry,so there is a greater demand for Chinese translation of game design related textbooks.The thesis aims to expound the translation techniques and strategies of game design textbook under the guidance of Nida’s Back Transformation Theory: analysis,decomposition and reconstruction,taking the author’s translation practice,the E-C translation of the game design textbook entitled Rules of play,as an example.Literature research,contrast,induction,summary and tabulation are used in the thesis.Firstly,current researches on informative textbook at home and abroad are reviewed by the literature research,making a brief introduction of Back Transformation Theory.Secondly,the textual features of the translation project are analyzed through summary and induction.In the end,through the method of tabulation,contrast,exemplification and induction,and under the guidance of Nida’s Back Transformation Theory,this thesis discusses the translation skills of game design textbooks from the aspects of vocabulary,sentence and discourse.The author finds that Nida’s Back Transformation Theory can offer significant help to analyze the long sentence in details,then realize the conversion of semantics and vocabulary and eventually render the quality of the translation textbook both professional and teachable.Finally,the author summarizes the translation projects,hoping that the experience gained from this project will benefit the future translators in this field.
