The translation of literary works is not only one of the important ways of communication between China and the West,but also plays a crucial role in the development of world literature.However,the current data show that literary works of Chinese ethnic people are rarely translated into English.Fire-taken Child tells us about the Hani folktales: kindness,courage and harmony.The translator chose the tenth chapter to the fifteenth chapter of the book as her translation task.In this translation task,the author takes foregrounding theory as theoretical guidance.This theory originates from the defamiliarization theory of the formalism school in Russian.The defamiliarization theory holds that when translators translate literary works,they should deviate from the conventional mode of language.Foregrounding translation theory has gradually become an important concept in stylistics.This report analyzes language characteristics of the translation task from the perspective of foregrounding theory,and then implements some measures in combination with translation methods.In the process of translation task,the translator encountered problems in pronunciation,semantics,vocabulary and dialects.The translator adopted omission,transformation,amplification,transliteration and paraphrase to solve these problems.It is expected hopes that it can provide more examples for literary translation through discussion of these translation skills of the novel.
