The source text is excerpted from the second chapter of China’s Expansion in International Business,which involves China’s economy and its main resources.The translation of this text can help Chinese readers better understand the course and economic growth of China’s economic development and provide valuable economic information reference for future economic growth.Reiss’ Text Type theory assumes that the text types are divided into informative,expressive,and operative text type and different text type determines what kind of translation methods can be used in the text.Besides,Reiss points out that the author should focus on the content of the source text and convey its meaning faithfully in terms of the informative text type.Under this guidance,the author adopts literal translation,conversion of parts of speech,and choice of word’s meaning to deal with difficulties while translating nominal phrases,proper nouns,and professional terms at lexical level.At syntactic level,the author reframes the logical relation based on her understanding of the deep structures by reframing logical relations,linear translation,restructuring and division to approach problems met in the translation of long and complex sentences.At rhetoric level,the author mainly uses literal translation and free translation to translate sentences with rhetoric use.Finally,in the conclusion,the author makes a summary of her findings and shortcomings of her translation.Under the guidance of Reiss’ text type theory,some translation methods and guiding principles are summarized by the author,which can provide a reference for other translators in this field.
