A Report On The C-E Translation Of Notifications On Travel Risks

As a kind of legal document,tourism contract plays a critical role in economic society.With the development of transnational trade,the translation of tourism contracts is also becoming more and more important.The C-E translation task is a translation practice report based on a translation program of a notification,which is an attachment of tourism contract.As an attachment of tourism contract,the source text is a notification which is mainly about the warnings,suggestions and obligations that the tourists should have noticed and obeyed before traveling.Received in May 2020,the translation task was completed after two months.The total words of translation task were over 12,000.Based on translation practice,this report mainly focuses on the features of the source text to explore a faithful and expressive version so that the task can be finished successfully.This report is composed by five parts.The first part is introduction which explains the background information of source text.The second part is about task description,which represents the analysis of the source text and requirements of the entrusting party.The detailed description of the translation process is discussed in the third part,including search for background information,selection of translation tools,translation theories and skills,methods of quality control,description of translation process and evaluation.The fourth part is case analysis.In this part,under the guidance of Newmark’s text typology theory,the translator analyzes the source text from two aspects: words and sentences.In terms of words,the translator has analyzed the source text from three aspects: terminology,words related to daily life and the use of archaic words.In terms of sentences,the translator has analyzed the long and complex sentences,conditional adverbial clauses and conversion from active voice to passive voice.The conclusion is discussed in the last part.In this part,some unsolved problems,related reflections were summarized by the translator.In conclusion,through analyzing translation process,this report aims to discuss some problems appearing in the translation of notification and find out appropriate solutions,and summarize the usage of translation theory and skills in the practice.
