In recent years,the medical device market of China has developed rapidly and has become the third largest medical device market in the world.The import and export of medical devices has a robust rate of growth.A large number of instructions and technical manuals of products need to be translated.The quality of translation is directly related to the safety and effectiveness of medical devices.At the same time,China actively encourages the technological innovation of medical devices and the research and development of high-end medical device products.The academic exchanges between the medical device industry and foreign counterparts are increasingly frequent,and the translation of medical device scientific and technological literature highlights its importance.The practice report mainly analyzes and discusses the translation of the Medical Device Clinical Trial Protocol(Excerpt).Under the guidance of Newmark’s text typology,the translator adopts communicative translation and semantic translation to translate this practice.This practice report chiefly introduces the background information and significance about this translation task and the structure of this report.The translator analyzes the source text from lexical level,syntactic level and textual level and introduces the whole translation process consisting of pre-translation,mid-translation and post-translation.Pre-translation includes the choice of appropriate translation tools and parallel texts as well as the reasons of choosing text typology.The translator mainly discusses how to implement the quality control so as to attain a translation with high quality in mid-translation.Post-translation includes self-evaluation,evaluation from peer and the entrusting party.This report,combining translation theory and practice,discusses the difficulties encountered by the translator in the process of translation and adopts a variety of translation skills to solve these problems,such as conversion,amplification,omission and so on.At last,the translator summarizes this report,puts forward the unsolved problems in practice and the conditions to be a qualified translator.
