A Study Of Zhang Mu And His Book Named Shi Jing Shu Lue

Zhang Mu was a famous scholar in Henan in the turn of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.Zhang Mu’s study covered many subjects.He regarded the way of sage as the highest pursuit of his life-long academic,therefore his academic mind is very broad-minded.His Shi Jing Shu Lue quoted widely,not only references to Han,Song and Ming’s famous Confucians,but also does not blindly follow the authority.He often makes bold doubts and free arguments.Therefore,he has made a lot of achievements and got his own unique style in the history of the book of songs study in the early Qing Dynasty.However,the compilers of The Si Ku Quan Shu’s evaluation of the Shi Jing Shu Lue is not high,and few modern scholars have mentioned it.This research status is not commensurate with the academic achievements of the Shi Jing Shu Lue.This paper takes Zhang Mu and his Shi Jing Shu Lue as the research object,hoping to show Zhang Mu’s life,friends and academic activities through the research,and explore the academic origin of his idea of writting the Shi Jing Shu Lue;at the same time,this paper will make a preliminary analysis of the version,style,way of saying the book of songs,and the standpoint of the basic problems of the Shi Jing Shu Lue,and puts it in the past research history in the interpretation of the book of songs,and finally analyzes this book’s characteristics of the book of songs dialectically.This paper is divided into five chapters: the first chapter focuses on Zhang Mu’s family and academic origin,imperial examination and official experience,social intercourse and lecturing activities,and makes a preliminary overview of his academic thoughts and various works in order to restore the academic origin of the Shi Jing Shu Lue.Zhang Mu,born in a scholarly family,has been deeply influenced by traditional Confucian culture.Zhang himself also became a teacher and had a close relationship with Mr.Xia Feng Sun Qi Feng.He was deeply influenced by sun’s academic orientation of returning to the original sage and not being confined to the door;The second chapter takes the general situation of the Shi Jing Shu Lue as the research object,focusing on this book’s edition and style;The third chapter starts from the methodology,analyzing Shi Jing Shu Lue’s basic position and the way of interpreting poems by respecting Preface;The fourth chapter summarizes the basic attitude of interpreting the book of songs of the Shi Jing Shu Lue;The last chapter starts with the history of reception,explores the attitude of the book of songs to several basic problems in the history of the study of the book of songs,and analyzes its sublation of the achievements in the study of the book of songs in the Han,Tang and Song dynasties.Zhang believed that the poetic preface was written by saint and carried the confucian orthodoxy.Therefore,he not only regarded the poetic preface and poetry as equally important text form,but even regarded it as the logical starting point for the interpretation of the book of songs.When interpreting the book of songs,the preface is taken as the key link,and the poetic interpretation is mostly based on the poetic preface.His attempts to explain words in Henan dialect and common sayings are worth paying attention to.His efforts to prove the poem by history,etiquette,and Neo Confucianism are of great benefit to the interpretation of poetry.It not only collects and breaks through the achievements of han and song studies,but also cites and refutes them.In addition,there are delicate and rigorous exegesis and systematic interpretation of the book of songs from Neo Confucianism.Therefore,this book is quite different from the research works of the book of songs in the early Qing Dynasty development trend.
