As a core area of the Maritime Silk Road,Fujian plays a significant role in the Belt and Road initiative.Therefore it remains essential to increase the influences of Fujian among the countries who engage in the Belt and Road Initiative.Fujian news reflects local economy and culture.Its translation can help more foreigners have an insight into Fujian’s progress in these aspects,thus raising its international profile and further increasing China’s influences in the world.Under the guidance of Newmark’s translation theory,this report discusses the C-E translation of Fujian news in terms of headlines,lexicons,sentences and discourse.It can be concluded through analysis of the practice that communicative translation should be adopted to translate news titles because the title of news often leaves the first impression on the target readers.In view of that there are many words with distinctive local features,semantic translation should be used as a major method to help local culture go global and communicative translation should be used as a supplementary method to make native culture comprehensible to the readership.Besides that,communicative translation should be employed as a main approach to render the sentences and texts consistent with the expressive habits of the audience.At last,the report illustrates the author’s feelings and experiences,with a view to offering some references for the latecomers.
