The rampant Covid-19 greatly influenced on-site interpreting.Hence, the author did the simulated consecutive interpreting on September 9,2020.This report presents the whole process of interpreting and contains the author’s reflections on his performance in interpreting. The material used for the simulation was excerpted from the fourth roundtable talk, which the Center for China and Globalization held on September 8,2020,namely the Business and Policy Views of Reginal Free Trade and Supply Chains in Flux.During the simulation, the author did consecutive interpreting for 5 speakers in political and business fields at home and abroad. This report mainly consists of 5 sections.Task description mainly introduces the task, participants of the roundtable talk, procedures and quality-assurance of the simulation.Process description illustrates the pre-task preparation,on-site interpreting, and post-task summary.Requirements of interpreter’s subjectivity in interpreting expounds obstacles to interpreters and requirements of interpreter’s subjectivity in interpreting. The case analysis expatiates on the obstacles the author met in his interpreting and the solutions to difficulties caused by those obstacles. The last section is the conclusion. When analyzing his post-task transcripts, the author realized that he mainly used modification, addition, omission, summarization, and correction to meet the requirements of interpreter’s subjectivity so as to resolve difficulties he met in interpreting. Those difficulties were primarily caused by the on-site pressure he faced, speakers’ language use, cultural differences between speakers and audience, and his effort limitation.
