A Practice Report On English Translation Of Terms In The Cab And Electric System Of XXX Commerical Vehicle Maintenance Manual

With the introduction of the “Belt and Road” initiative,along with the implementation of the “going out” strategy of Chinese domestic automobile industry,the external communication involving automobile technology information plays an integral role.In the process of external communication of automobile technology,the number of new words emerging in the automotive industry in the promotion of core technology industrialization,innovation of key components and development of self-owned brand new energy vehicles is about 10,000 each year.Vocabulary is frequently used in international academic exchanges and trades.Thus,how to correctly deal with the vocabulary of car growth year by year,how to deal with the conflict between these new words and English language and culture is a problem that enterprises should face seriously.In the Practice Report on English Translation of Terms in the Cab and Electric System of XXX Commercial Vehicle Maintenance Manual,it mainly focuses on the translation of normative terms,and explores the classification of terms and the translation strategy of terms.This report is divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction of the translation task,which involves the background,objective,significance and structure of the translation task.The second part is the translation process,which involves pre-translation: comprehension of the source text and the establishment of the term list.While-Translation: Time control and translation difficulties and explores the solutions of translation difficulties.After translation: proofreading and layout adjustment.The third part is the case study,which is the key part of this report.By analyzing the source text,the terms are divided into three categories,that is,technical terms,semi-professional terms,and terminologization of glossaries.Combined with the characteristics of the source text,basing on Hans Vermeer’s Skopos theory and Newmark’s communicative translation,it adopts six translation methods: sequential word order translation,approaching from the reverse side,conception transformation,imitation,acceptance through common practice translation and metaphor.The fourth part is the conclusion,which is a summary about the experience,challenges and suggestions of the translation task and suggestions to university,enterprise and translator.In short,this translation practice report is a useful attempt to translate automotive terms.
