A Research On Euphemism In YushiMingyan

In daily life,people often do not speak out directly,but use some communication strategies to achieve the desired communicative effect.Euphemism is one of the most effective communication strategies,which can avoid negative psychological reaction of those who are inconvenient or unwilling to mention directly in communication.From this point of view,the use of euphemism can not only help people achieve good communication results,but also enhance the feeling between each other.Yushi Mingyan was compiled by Feng Menglong at the end of the Ming Dynasty according to Song and Yuan narrative and simulative books,representing the peak of Chinese ancient vernacular short stories.The novel has a wide range of subjects and rich contents,which reflects the life and thoughts of the citizen class.Because the novel is born out of the narrative books,mainly for the daily recreation of the people.As a result,the works are mainly narrative language.The use of euphemism in Yushi Mingyan is of great significance and value for a comprehensively understanding of euphemism communication application level in ancient Song,Yuan and Ming dynasties.So the paper uses the related knowledge in lexicology,semantics,pragmatics,cognitive linguistics and uses the literature method,the graph method,the descriptive explanation method,the inductive deduction method and so on to analyze its construction mode,pragmatic function and cultural connotation.At the same time,this paper makes a further discussion on the euphemism of Yushi Mingyan from a diachronic point of view to clarify its development and change rules,expecting to provide reference for modern euphemism communication.This paper is divided into seven parts.Introduction.The part mainly introduces the reason of choosing this paper,the research situation,the research purpose and the significance,the research thought and method,the theory foundation and corpus source.The first chapter is Yushi Mingyan and euphemism.This paper introduces Yushi Mingyan from the aspects of author,background,version and style.At the same time,it redefines the concept of euphemism according to previous studies.The second chapter is the classification of euphemism in Yushi Mingyan.First of all,according to the size of language units,the euphemism in Yushi Mingyan is divided into lexical euphemism and sentence euphemism.Secondly,lexical euphemism is divided into seven categories from the point of view of euphemism object,sentence euphemism is divided into two categories from pragmatic’s point of view.The third chapter is the construction of euphemism in Yushi Mingyan.This paper analyzes the construction of euphemism from the perspective of vocabulary,semantics,grammar,cognition and reveals the application skills of euphemism in Song,Yuan and Ming dynasties.At the same time,the paper explains the etymology and semantics of euphemism in Yushi Mingyan.The fourth chapter is the pragmatic function of euphemism in Yushi Mingyan.This paper analyzes its pragmatic function from the point of view of "taking others as the main body" or "taking oneself as the main body ",combining Leech’s politeness principle.The fifth chapter is the cultural of euphemism in Yushi Mingyan.This paper introduces the culture of the euphemism in Yushi Mingyan from the aspects of politics,psychology,nature and communication.The sixth chapter is the development and change of euphemism in Yushi Mingyan.This paper reveals the evolution law of euphemism inheritance,variation and regression from the diachronic point of view.
