A Translation Project Report On The Girl With The Louding Voice (Chapter 51-56)

Paying attention to women’s rights and interests is of great significance to individuals,countries and society.Ignoring or even despising women ’s rights and interests is a great disrespect for women,and it will trigger problems accordingly.Therefore,only by speaking out for women’s rights and interests and attracting the attention of all the society can women’s rights and interests be better protected.This translation practice is based on The Girl with the Louding Voice,a literary text written by African feminist writer Abi Dare,and selects chapters 51-56 as practical materials.It mainly tells the story of the hero “Adunni” living in Lagos,a city of Nigeria,and how to realize his dream through hard work.The novel is beautiful in language and rich in emotions,showing a young African woman who never gives up her dream even in adversity.In this report,Nord’s “Function Plus Loyalty” is used to guide the translation of literary text,and the difficulties encountered in the translation process are mainly discussed from the aspects of vocabulary,syntax and discourse.The translator adopts translation methods such as conversion,inversion and addition to solve such difficulties as the usage of verb metaphor and ellipsis in the translation process,so as to accurately convey the original information and reproduce the communicative effect.The paper is expected to awaken people’s awareness that Nord’s Function Plus Loyalty can be applied to guide literary works,and also awaken their attention to women’s rights and interests through the translation of the literary text,and tells the women who are in the bad situations that despite the numerous difficulties,they should be hopeful and dare to fight in adversity,because they will finally achieve their dreams like the protagonists in the novel.
