A Project Report On Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Of 2020 Cisco Live Virtual Event APJC

In the new era,more and more enterprises hold meetings to discuss network technology and equipment,contributing to creating an intelligent and secure network environment.As a bridge for communication,sci-tech interpretation promotes cross-cultural exchanges and helps enterprises share industry knowledge.As one of the top technology-themed summits globally,Cisco Live Virtual Event APJC was held from April 1^stto 2^nd,2020.The reporter,interested in the technology industry,chooses to conduct a simulated English-to-Chinese consecutive interpreting report.In the interpreting project,the reporter has encountered some difficulties.Long and complex sentences and the Indian accent are embodied in language input;redundant notes and lack of logical links in the effective notes are outlined;improper pauses and over-dependency on the source language’s structure in language output are also analyzed.Based on the rigorous analysis of transcripts,the reporter proposes that interpreters should strengthen listening comprehension by recognizing the sentence’s essential elements and summarizing phonological features of Indian accented English;improve their note-taking skills by abandoning useless information with a focus on sense and establishing a marking system for logical relations;and make language output smooth and logical by avoiding improper pauses and reformulating information.By analyzing problematic examples in interpreting,this report attempts to provide feasible solutions and references for interpreters who may encounter similar problems in the future.
